🎓 31% of Student Debt Held by African Americans

African American students bear the highest percentage of student debt, standing at 31.3%, despite only making up 13.1% (2021) of undergraduate students. Some of this disparity may be attributed to the racial wealth gap, which is perpetuated further by the disproportionate debt acquired by these students to fund their education.

White students made up over half of the undergraduate population in 2021 but accounted for 17.6% of the overall student loans. As a result, white adults who attended college are said to end up with an average of 7.2 times more wealth than their black counterparts. Within ethnicities, Asians have the highest enrollment rates in undergraduate programs and make up the smallest share of student debt at 10.8%.

🍃 12GW of Clean Energy Purchased by Amazon

Tech companies lead in adopting clean energy, benefiting from their capacity to invest significantly in sustainable solutions. Amazon, holding the title of the world's largest purchaser of clean energy, has set ambitious goals to achieve net zero carbon emissions across its operations by 2040. Meta, the second-largest purchaser, is currently powering its global operations with 100% renewable energy by integrating new wind and solar projects into the local grids of its data centers.

Google, ranking third in clean energy procurement, aims to operate on 24/7 carbon-free energy in all its data centers and campuses worldwide by 2030. Microsoft purchased 4.5 GW of clean energy in 2022 and has aggressive targets in place to combat climate change. Microsoft aims to be carbon-negative by 2030 and offset all carbon emitted by the company since its inception by 2050.

🏃‍♂️ 2.9M Blood Sugar App Downloads

Monitoring blood sugar levels is no longer reserved for people with diabetes, with heightened interest in monitoring blood sugar levels as a wellness trend. The health app "Blood Sugar" has emerged as the most downloaded medical app globally, reflecting the growing interest. The rise in the proportion of diabetic patients could also be driving some demand for this app.

The "Lose Weight App for Men" follows closely with 2 million downloads. This could be attributed to the growing global emphasis on healthy living, with studies indicating that men are more inclined to experience difficulties associated with being overweight. In third place is "NoiseFit: Health & Fitness," a health-tracking app founded in India. This app has garnered significant attention in the Indian market, where it also represents a leading smartwatch brand.
