🏫 15% Rise in Private School Fees in the UK

Private school fees in the UK more than doubled from 2024 to 2025 after a 20% VAT was added, pushing already high costs beyond many families’ reach amid peak inflation in the last year. This led to a record loss of 13K students from private schools. As a result, state school enrolment is expected to rise, and online private schools anticipate growth. A legal challenge to the VAT policy was dismissed by the High Court as well.

🍃 Annual Real Price of Lithium Carbonate Dropped by 80%

Between 2022 and 2024, the annual real price of battery-grade lithium carbonate dropped by 80% due to oversupply and weakening demand. Increased production from countries like China and Argentina contributed to the surplus. Lithium carbonate, a key component in lithium-ion batteries, is facing downward price pressure. Although new US tariffs on electric vehicles may influence prices, correcting the oversupply and driving recovery will take time.

🤖 India’s VC Investment in AI Increased by >100M

India’s venture capital investment in AI increased by over $100M from 2023 to 2024. While India is already demonstrating rapid progress in GDP growth, space, and defense, its AI sector is now drawing increasing attention. With vast untapped potential, Indian AI startups are attracting aggressive investment. Notably, New York-based early-stage firm hBat VC has announced plans to invest up to $100M in the sector. As India steadily builds its AI foundation, it is positioning itself as the next frontier for global innovation and capital.
