This week, Nvidia and Foxconn are building the largest AI supercomputer in Taiwan, targeting over 90 exaflops, supporting cancer research and smart cities. Egypt issued 5G licenses valued at $675M to Orange, Vodafone, and E& Egypt, enhancing its regional connectivity and innovation leadership. Vodafone and Google entered a billion-dollar partnership to deliver AI-powered devices and services across Europe and Africa, enhancing Vodafone TV and YouTube subscriptions. Serasa Experian acquired ClearSale for $420M, enhancing its e-commerce anti-fraud solutions and improving security and authentication services for customers.
🌐 AI and Automation
💻 The largest AI supercomputer being built in Taiwan by Nvidia and Foxconn is expected to have a performance of over 90 exaflops. It will support cancer research, smart cities, and AI development. Using Nvidia's Blackwell chips, the system is expected to be partially operational by 2025, with full deployment by 2026.
🧬 Nebius is tripling its Nvidia GPU capacity at its AI data center in Mäntsälä, Finland, to 60,000 GPUs. The expansion is part of a $1B plan to boost European AI infrastructure by mid-2025. Nebius emerged from Yandex's European assets and has faced scrutiny due to its Russian origins.
🚗 Tesla is set to reveal its Robotaxi, or "Cybercab," on October 9, showcasing a prototype of the two-seater, Cybertruck-like vehicle designed for autonomous driving. The event will take place at Warner Bros. Studios, likely featuring demos in controlled environments. Tesla's Robotaxi commercialization and regulatory challenges remain, with production likely years away.
🤖 5G
🔬 MTN Congo launched its 5G network, making Congo a leader in Central Africa’s digital landscape. The government supports digital expansion, with plans for a $72.8M data center by the end of 2024. Congo's internet penetration is projected to reach 62.48% by year-end.
📈 Nokia and NTT DATA formalized their partnership on private 5G networks, focusing on sectors like airports and smart cities. Their collaboration targets critical industries with scalable, secure solutions, leveraging Nokia’s RAN technology and NTT DATA's integration services to accelerate digital transformation globally.
🛠️ Egypt issued 5G licenses to Orange, Vodafone, and E& Egypt, marking a significant step in its digital transformation. The licenses, valued at $675M, include renewing previous generation licenses. This move positions Egypt as a regional leader in connectivity and innovation.

🔋 Vodafone and Google collaborated on a billion-dollar deal to bring AI-powered devices and services to millions across Europe and Africa to enhance YouTube subscriptions and AI-driven features for Vodafone TV, supported by Google Cloud and Gemini AI models.
🔗 OpenAI and the Singapore government collaborated to strengthen the local AI ecosystem. The company will invest $1M to develop AI resources suited for Southeast Asia. OpenAI aims to enhance AI accessibility and foster regional collaboration.

The partnership aims to boost connectivity and transform the region’s ICT ecosystem by expanding digital services to meet global demand, driving technological innovation, and fostering growth in the region’s digital landscape.
💰 Tech Deals
💼 Trafera, a leading provider of educational technology solutions, acquired Now Micro for an undisclosed amount, a company known for delivering tailored technology solutions. To enhance capabilities and broaden their range of innovative services, ultimately benefiting clients through improved solutions and expertise.
💡 City Therapeutics is a biotech company with a recent $135M Series A funding round; they aim to advance their drug pipeline. Their mission is to develop innovative RNAi-based medicines that improve potency, specificity, and delivery across various tissue types.
👥 Serasa Experian, a leader in credit and risk management services, acquired ClearSale, which specializes in anti-fraud solutions for e-commerce, for $420M. The acquisition aims to enhance security offerings and provide better authentication and fraud prevention services to customers.
