🎓 Early Education Dropout Rate in Spain Down 10%

Spain’s early education dropout rate fell by nearly 10% over the past decade. Before 2007, a booming economy made it easy to find work with minimal education, driving dropout rates up. However, the 2008 financial crisis reversed this trend, as job losses among the less educated led to an increase in the pursuit of higher education. Government initiatives, such as the PROA+ Programme, which supports schools with high numbers of vulnerable students, also played a key role in improving educational outcomes and reducing dropout rates.

⚕️ Dementia Cases Increased by Nearly 15% in England

Dementia cases in England increased by nearly 15% between 2023 and 2025, driven by an aging population and greater public awareness leading to more diagnoses. Globally, Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia are rising rapidly, posing a major health challenge with no known cure. In response, the UK Prime Minister announced a major initiative: the government and Wellcome Trust will invest up to $760M to launch a new Health Data Research Service, targeting diseases like dementia and cancer.

🤖 FDA-Approved AI Medical Devices Increased by >37x

FDA-approved AI medical devices have increased by over 37-fold in the past decade, fueled by rapid advances in AI technologies like machine learning and neural networks. These tools now drive personalized treatments, predictive analytics, diagnostics, and even healthcare robotics. Industry adoption and streamlined FDA approval processes have further accelerated growth. However, a recent study found that half of FDA-cleared AI devices lack patient data validation. To avoid such risks FDA is tightening regulations to ensure safety while supporting innovation.
