π Turkish firm Otokar secured a $934M contract to supply 1,059 Cobra II Light Armored Tactical Wheeled Vehicles to the Romanian Army. The contract includes nine configurations, with initial production in Turkey and later in Romania. Otokar was the sole bidder after competitors withdrew due to production and maintenance conditions.
π€Ί Thomas Global Systems was awarded a contract by Hanwha Defence Australia to develop Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicle Trainers (IFV-T) for the Australian Army. These simulators will provide immersive training for vehicle crews and will be delivered between 2026 and 2028, enhancing Australia's sovereign defense capabilities.
π― Poland's WB Group and South Korea's Hanwha Aerospace signed an agreement to produce CGR-080 missiles for Poland's HOMAR-K artillery systems. A new manufacturing facility will be established in Poland, strengthening defense ties. The HOMAR-K, a locally produced version of the HIMARS system, enhances Poland's artillery modernization efforts.

π Drone Tech
π§ Northrop Grumman integrated AI into its Forward Area Air Defense (FAAD) command system, enhancing drone defense capabilities. The new Advanced Battle Manager allows real-time decision-making for counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS), optimizing weapon-target pairings and engagement plans with rapid data processing.
βοΈ AeroVironment introduced the Vapor 55 MX UAS at KADEX 2024. This all-electric helicopter features a modular design with a 9 kg payload capacity and 75 minutes of cruise endurance. It operates at altitudes up to 3,657 meters, withstands wind speeds of 55.5 km/h, and supports various sensor configurations.
π At KADEX 2024, South Korea showcased the Drone Multiple Launcher, capable of deploying up to 10 drones for various missions. Additionally, the CMMAV drone carrier vehicle can launch 20 drones and adapt payloads quickly. Global trends reveal advancements in drone swarm technology across several nations, enhancing military capabilities.

π Starfighters Space Inc. opened a new launch facility at the Midland, Texas Spaceport, enhancing its hypersonic testing capabilities. This expansion supports operations with the Midland Development Corporation and aims to create 23 jobs by 2033. The facility will facilitate aerospace innovation and diversify the company's geographic operations.
π Rocket Lab USA had been awarded a NASA contract to study the retrieval of Martian rock samples, aiming to bring them to Earth for the first time. This mission is part of NASA's Mars Sample Return Program and aims to enhance understanding of Mars and prepare for future human exploration.
π The European Space Agency launched its Hera mission to study asteroid deflection techniques following NASA's DART experiment. Hera will reach the Dimorphos asteroid in 2026, providing data crucial for planetary defense. Enhance understanding of mid-sized asteroids and prepare for potential future threats to Earth.

πͺ XDLINX Space Labs raised $7M in seed funding to enhance satellite technology and space exploration. The company aims to make space more accessible with indigenous systems. Its upcoming project, Elevation-1, will demonstrate advanced E-band communications, with plans for a sub-meter imagery satellite constellation by 2025.
πΆ Watchtowr, a Singapore-based cybersecurity startup, raised $20M in its Series A funding round, led by Peak XV Partners. The funding aims to enhance its cybersecurity offerings. This investment reflects growing interest in cybersecurity solutions amid increasing digital threats in the region.
