👶 3.7% Drop in China's Early Childhood Ed Enrollment
Early childhood education enrollment in China dropped by 3.7% in 2023 to 46.3M, reflecting demographic shifts and a record-low birth rate of 9M. With declining demand, over 14,800 kindergartens closed. In response, policies aim to transform excess kindergartens into childcare centers for children under three. A tax exemption for parents with young children was also introduced to ease financial burdens and support long-term population goals.
🍃 Nearly 50% of India’s Workforce was in Agriculture in 2022
In 2021–2022, 46% of India’s workforce remained in agriculture, highlighting its role in employment and economic stability. Policies like the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, launched in the 2025 Union Budget, aim to modernize agriculture by improving productivity. The government aims to transition labor to productive sectors through Swadesh Darshan and PRASAD, which enhance tourism infrastructure, while PLI schemes incentivize manufacturing, boosting exports and fostering industry growth.
⚕️ >15% Rise in Practicing Doctors in the UK
The number of licensed doctors in the UK increased from 3.6 per 1,000 people in 2018 to 4.2 in 2023. Despite this growth, meeting rising demand has prompted government initiatives to expand medical schools and specialty training programs. Policies like the Health and Care Bill aim to improve workforce planning. However, the NHS continues to face staffing issues. Addressing these challenges requires sustained funding and stronger retention efforts.
