๐Ÿซ Out of School Rates in MENA Lower Than Global Average

MENA's primary out-of-school rates stand at 5.8% for males and 7.5% for females, lower than global averages of 10.4% and 11.3%. Yet, an upwards trend, particularly for girls, due to cultural and economic barriers. Rising conflicts further hinder access, contributing to over 30 million children out of school in the region, as highlighted by UNICEF. Policies that target the upliftment of young girlsโ€™ education have been highlighted as a key priority of governments of MENA countries.

๐Ÿƒ>100K Solar PV Jobs in Vietnam

Solar PV employment in Southeast Asia has risen overall, led by Vietnam with 105,000 jobs, followed by Malaysia (43,000) and Thailand (24,000). The region is becoming a solar hotspot due to decreasing costs and heightened governmental focus with supportive policies like feed-in tariffs, as evidenced by major solar projects. The ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation, guided by the ASEAN Centre for Energy, aims to further improve this energy transition.

๐Ÿค– Industry Foundation AI Models Outpace All Other Sectors

Foundation model development increased significantly in 2023, with industry leading at 108 models, significantly outpacing academia's 28. This trend highlights AI's increasing ubiquity and the growing adoption of industry-led models due to their versatility and lower costs. New AI firms are fueling competition, amid plans for major acquisitions by top tech players integrating these models into diverse workflows, as seen with NVIDIA's platform for physical AI. Future ethical AI development will be guided by emerging global governance frameworks, such as those proposed by the G7.
