Canada's imposition of a 100% tariff on Chinese EVs, starting October 1st, reflects a broader trend seen in the US and EU with respective governments trying to boost domestic production. However, some Chinese-based companies, such as Xpeng, have plans to establish EV production and a data center in Europe to bypass these tariffs. Meanwhile, Chinese companies like Geely, Chery, and JAC are continuing to expand into the Algerian market by setting up manufacturing facilities. In the aviation sector, Supernal revealed a new landing system for eVTOL aircraft, enhancing precision in challenging conditions. On the railway front, Costa Rica's electric train project secured significant funding from the European Investment Bank, while WΓ€rtsilΓ€ and Eidesvik Offshore signed a pioneering deal to use ammonia as fuel in shipping.

β‘ Canada Slaps 100% Tariff on Chinese Electric Cars. Canada imposed a 100% tariff on imported electric cars manufactured in China, mirroring similar actions taken by the US and the European Union over the last few months. These tariffs will come into effect on October 1st.
π Xpeng Plans European EV Production and Data Center. Xpeng, a Chinese electric vehicle company, intends to build electric vehicles in Europe to circumvent tariffs. Additionally, the company will set up a large data center in Europe to support intelligent driving features in its vehicles.

π Wright Electric Wins FAA Grant for Ultra-Lightweight Battery Development. Wright Electric, an aviation company, and its partners were awarded a $3.34M grant from the Federal Aviation Administration's FAST program to develop ultra-lightweight batteries.
π GO Riteway Expands Operations with Westlund Bus Lines Acquisition. GO Riteway, a transportation company based near Milwaukee, acquired Westlund Bus Lines, allowing it to expand its operations into northern Wisconsin.
