The recent reduction in import duties on Chinese-made Tesla vehicles is poised to boost EV sales in the EU, addressing the decline in Chinese EV exports caused by earlier tariff proposals. Meanwhile, electric car sales in China surpassed gasoline vehicles for the first time, marking a significant shift in the automotive market. Saudi Arabia plans to introduce flying electric ferries in its upcoming desert megacity, showcasing a futuristic approach to urban transport. Siemens Mobility is set to lead the electrification of Singapore's Cross Island Line while shipping giant Maersk is exploring small modular nuclear reactors to achieve zero-emission shipping. Additionally, Israeli startup Element acquired Autofleet for $110M, expanding its capabilities in sustainable fleet management.

🚗 EU Cuts Tariffs on China-Made Tesla Vehicles. The European Commission reduced import duties on Tesla electric vehicles made in China, which could boost sales in the region after Chinese EV exports to the EU declined due to proposed tariffs.

⚡ Electric Vehicle Demand Slump Impacts Battery Materials Firms. The temporary decline in demand for electric vehicles is having a ripple effect, impacting battery materials companies after affecting domestic battery manufacturers.

🚗 Electric Cars Outsell Gas Cars in China for First Time. In a major milestone for the electric vehicle industry, sales of electric cars in China surpassed sales of gasoline-powered cars in July 2024.

✈️ Major eVTOL Aircraft Order for Archer. Future Flight Global, a company, signed an agreement to potentially purchase up to 116 electric vertical take-offs and landing (eVTOL) aircraft from Archer.

🚁 Dubai Firm Partners with CRISALION to Advance Electric Air Taxis. Air Chateau, a Dubai-based company, partnered with CRISALION Mobility and pre-ordered ten electric vertical take-offs and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to accelerate electric air taxi services in the UAE.

🚀 Flying Electric Ferries for Saudi Desert City. Saudi Arabia has plans to use flying electric ferries to transport people in its upcoming desert megacity. This involves electric boats that can fly and shuttle passengers around the futuristic urban area.

🚆 Thailand Completes Major Rail Infrastructure Project. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) completed the track doubling of the 421km southern main line, a major infrastructure project to improve rail transportation in the region.

⚡ Siemens Mobility to Electrify Singapore's Cross Island Line. Siemens Mobility awarded a contract to lead a consortium with Concord Corporation Pte Ltd to deliver the power supply system for Singapore's upcoming Cross Island Line.

🚉 Siemens Mobility Tests Obstacle Detection System in Berlin. Siemens Mobility is testing an obstacle detection system on the Berlin S-Bahn rail network as part of a digital rail initiative in Germany.

🚢 Marine

⚛️ Maersk Explores Nuclear Power for Zero-Emission Shipping. Maersk, a major shipping company, is considering using small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) as a potential solution to decarbonize the maritime shipping industry and achieve zero emissions.

⚓ Svanehøj to Supply Fuel Pumps for Ammonia-Powered Ships. Svanehøj, a Danish manufacturer of deep well and submersible pumps for vital applications within the fuel, cargo (gas, p&c), and offshore, will provide deep well fuel pumps for eight ammonia-powered bulk carriers.

🌱 MPA and GCMD Partner with Maritime Firms on Carbon Management. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) are collaborating with maritime companies to enhance their carbon accounting and management capabilities.

🚗 Israeli Startup Element Acquires Autofleet for $110 Million. Element, an Israeli startup, acquired Autofleet, a company that provides a turn-key solution for businesses to launch, manage, and scale sustainable fleet operations globally in a $110 million deal.

✈️ Volant AeroTech Secures $100M for eVTOL Development. Volant AeroTech, a company developing electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, secured $100M in additional financing to fund the development of its VE25 eVTOL vehicle.

🚚 Construction Tech Startup Sitemate Acquires Fleet Management Company Nomad. Sitemate, a no-code construction process digitization platform, acquired fleet management company Nomad Fleet for $2 million. The founders of both companies have civil engineering backgrounds.

🚢 Accelleron Acquires True North Marine to Bolster Digital Capabilities. Accelleron, a company in the mobility industry, is acquiring True North Marine to strengthen its digital offering.

🔥 EV Firefighting Startup Lee Mobility Secures Seed Funding. Lee Mobility, a South Korean startup specializing in electric vehicle firefighting solutions, received a seed round investment from Bluepoint Partners, a domestic early-stage venture capital firm.
