In a notable shift in the EU automotive market, hybrid vehicles have overtaken petrol-powered cars in new sales for the first time, as reported by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). However, the EU is still spending approximately $45.6B annually to subsidize internal combustion engine company cars. In the US, federal regulators have cleared the way for eVTOL aircraft to share airspace with traditional planes and helicopters, benefiting eVTOL startups. Meanwhile, Tokyo Metro's shares surged up to 47% following its $2.3B IPO, Japan's largest since 2018. Singapore's MPA and IRENA have signed an MOU in energy collaboration to promote renewable energy in the maritime sector. Additionally, Advance Mobility secured $3M in a recent funding round.

🚗 Hybrids Overtake Petrol Cars in EU Sales. For the first time in September, hybrid vehicles surpassed petrol-powered cars in new sales across the EU, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). Meanwhile, a new study reveals the EU is spending around $45.60B annually to subsidize internal combustion engine company cars.

⚠️ EU-China EV tariff talks end in discord. The latest negotiations between the European Union and China over tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles ended without an agreement due to major differences remaining between the two sides.

🚗 Google and Renault Collaborate on Software-Defined Vehicle. Google and Renault are working together on a software-defined vehicle that will use Google's Android Automotive operating system and cloud servers, featuring a Digital Twin for testing AI capabilities. The collaboration aims to enhance real-time diagnostics, personalization, and seamless integration of new services.

✈️ US Regulators Clear Path for EVTOL Aircraft. Federal regulators in the United States cleared the way for EVTOL aircraft to share airspace with planes and helicopters, which is a positive development for EVTOL startups.

⛔ German Parliament Blocks Loan Guarantee for Lilium's eVTOL Aircraft. The German Parliament declined to approve a loan guarantee for Lilium's eVTOL aircraft, citing a preference not to support projects still in the development phase.

🚁 Supernal and Blade Partner for Advanced Air Mobility Operations. Supernal, a company developing eVTOL vehicles, and Blade, an urban air mobility company, partnered to develop network and fleet management operations for advanced air mobility.

🚇 Tokyo Metro shares soar after major IPO. Tokyo Metro shares jumped as much as 47% after the company's initial public offering, which was Japan's biggest IPO since 2018 worth $2.3B

🚆 Indian Railways to Trial Hydrogen-Powered Trains. Indian Railways plans to operate its prototype hydrogen-powered train on a railway line in the state of Haryana in December.

✈️ UK Government Plans Airspace Revamp for Cleaner and Faster Flights. The UK Department for Transport (DfT) launched a consultation on plans to upgrade the country's airspace design to reduce flight times, noise, and CO2 emissions.

🌱 Singapore MPA and IRENA Collaborate on Energy. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) signed a MOU to collaborate on promoting the use of renewable energy in the maritime sector.

🚢 MAN Engines Unveils New MAN D3872 Engine for Workboats. MAN Engines, a leading manufacturer of engines, introduced a new engine model called the MAN D3872, specifically designed for workboats.

🚢 UK Announces New 'Green Shipping Corridors'. The UK is investing in developing zero-emission shipping routes to destinations like Amsterdam, Oslo, and Dublin, aiming to decarbonize shipping.

🚇 Tokyo Metro's Successful IPO Debut. Tokyo Metro Co. Ltd., a major subway operator in Japan, made its public trading debut on Wednesday, with its shares soaring 45% above the initial public offering price.

💰 Advance Mobility Secures $3M in Undisclosed Funding Round. Advance Mobility, a mobility company, raised $3M in an undisclosed funding round from multiple investors.

🛫 PAG Acquires ICON Aerospace and TAG Aero to Enhance Avionics Capabilities. Precision Aviation Group (PAG) acquired ICON Aerospace (ICON) and TAG Aero (TAG) to enhance its capabilities in avionics.

🔌 Nuvve Holding Acquires Full Ownership of Levo Mobility. Nuvve Holding Corp. acquired full ownership of Levo Mobility LLC by purchasing the remaining 49% stake from Stonepeak and Evolve.

✈️ Vantage Aviation Acquires Dominion Aviation. Vantage Aviation acquired Dominion Aviation, which was the sole operator of the airfield.

🚢 MSC to acquire a majority stake in Brazilian port operator Wilson Sons for $768M. Swiss-based liner giant Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) struck a deal via its subsidiary Shipping Agencies Services (SAS) to acquire a majority 56.47% stake in Brazilian port and maritime logistics operator Wilson Sons from Ocean Wilsons Holdings for $768M.
