The European Union is set to vote on October 4th to impose up to 35% tariffs on Chinese electric vehicle imports unless opposed by member states, marking a significant move in the global EV market. Embraer developed an automatic takeoff system, enabling airplanes to take off without pilot intervention, applicable to multiple aircraft models, including E-Jets. In Sweden, hydrogen-powered locomotives are set to be introduced by 2027-2028, promoting eco-friendly rail transport. Meanwhile, electric vehicle company Nio secured $1.9B in funding despite facing a $616M loss in Q2, addressing concerns over its cash burn.

đ EU to Vote on Tariffs for Chinese Electric Vehicles. The European Union plans to vote on October 4th to impose up to 35% tariffs on electric vehicles imported from China unless most member states oppose the move. This involves the EU and China in the electric vehicle industry.
đ Electric and hybrid cars are expected to dominate Brazil's auto market by 2030. A study by Boston Consulting Group commissioned by Brazil's automakers association, Anfavea, showed that sales of new fully electric or hybrid cars in Brazil are expected to surpass sales of vehicles with combustion engines by 2030 and reach over 90% of the domestic market by 2040.
đ Waymo and Tesla Race to Launch Self-Driving Taxis. Waymo, owned by Alphabet, announced that its autonomous vehicles will soon be available for Uber customers in Austin, Texas. At the same time, Tesla plans to reveal its prototype of a self-driving taxi on October 10th.

đ The global Helicopter Blades Market is Projected to Grow Significantly. A report by Techanvio predicts that the helicopter blades market will grow by $146.6M from 2024 to 2028, driven by advancements in composite materials and AI technologies.
đŠī¸ Embraer's Self-Flying Takeoff System. Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace company, developed an automatic takeoff system that allows airplanes to take off without pilot intervention. This technology is not limited to Embraer's E-Jets and can be applied to other aircraft.
đŠī¸ Lilium Powers On First eVTOL Jet Ahead of Maiden Flight. Lilium, a company developing electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) jets, powered the first Lilium Jet, marking a significant milestone towards its first flight.

đ¤ī¸ Hydrogen Locomotives Coming to Sweden. Pesa, Vate Rail, and Hankavik plan to introduce hydrogen-powered locomotives in Sweden by 2027-2028 to promote sustainable and eco-friendly rail transport.
đ Siemens and Beacon Sign Locomotive Deal. Siemens Mobility and Beacon have signed a major framework agreement to deliver Vectron multi-system locomotives.
đ India's First Hydrogen Train Gets 1 MW Electrolyser/ GreenH Electrolysis, a company, inaugurated a 1 MW PEM electrolyzer in Jhajjar, Haryana, for India's first hydrogen-powered train.

đĨī¸ REGENT Seaglider Prototype Development Advances. REGENT Craft, a US-based company, has started integrating hardware and systems for its full-scale sea glider prototype. A full-scale sea glider prototype is a life-size, electrically powered maritime vehicle designed to fly close to water using ground effect for efficient, fast, and sustainable coastal transport.

đ Nio secures $1.9B funding amid losses. Nio, an unprofitable electric vehicle company, received a $1.9B cash injection from its parent company and investors to address its cash burn concerns despite reporting a $616M second-quarter loss.
đĢ StandardAero's Upsized $1.4B IPO. StandardAero Inc., an aerospace services provider backed by private equity, raised over $1.4B in an upsized initial public offering (IPO), one of the largest IPOs of the year. Latham & Watkins advised StandardAero, and Milbank advised the IPO underwriters.
đŠī¸ Powerfleet Acquires Fleet Complete to Expand IoT Solutions. Powerfleet acquired Fleet Complete, a provider of connected vehicle solutions, to expand its IoT offerings in the mobility industry.
đ E-scooter giants TIER and Dott have merged to form TIER-Dott. TIER Mobility, a Berlin-based e-scooter company, and Dott, an Amsterdam-based e-scooter company, merged to create a new joint entity called TIER-Dott.
đ° Qatar Airways Acquires Stake in Virgin Australia. Qatar Airways is acquiring a 25% stake in Virgin Australia. The deal also proposes giving Virgin Australia access to widebody planes through wet lease.
đĩ Universal Logistics Acquires Rail Terminal Operator Parsec. Universal Logistics Holdings, Inc. acquired Parsec, LLC, Parsec Intermodal of Canada ULC, and OB Trucking, Inc., a market-leading rail terminal operator.
đ Chinese Bike Component Maker Acquires Majority Stake in Spanish Brand. WheelTop, a Chinese manufacturer of bicycle components, acquired a majority stake in Rotor, a Spanish brand that makes components like cranksets and electronic shifting systems.
