🏫 Life-Ready Learning: Career Focused in K-12 and Wellbeing Prioritized in Higher Ed

Holistic, life-ready learning is increasingly in the spotlight for EdTech, reflecting the integration of academic, physical, and mental well-being into learning and curriculum.

Happy Monday 👋

Holistic, life-ready learning is increasingly in focus across different parts of the education sector. This week, ActivEd’s movement-based curriculum and Savvas Learning’s online career courses for K-12 students underscore a growing trend of EdTech companies integrating whole-child development and skills-based education. These efforts reflect earlier moves this quarter, such as American Student Assistance investing in Tutored by Teachers to support multilingual learners in PreK-12. Additionally, California’s $450M investment to help school districts expand career education pathways for high school students further connects academic learning to lifelong skills development.

In higher education, Ontario Tech University opened Shawenjigewining Hall, a hybrid learning facility focused on learning and student wellness, offering a holistic experience. This follows Ohio State University’s efforts to improve student well-being by partnering with Uwill to offer free teletherapy services to over 65,000 students across its campuses. Additionally, TimelyCare has expanded access to virtual mental health services for students from marginalized communities, addressing barriers such as stigma and limited access to traditional care. 🏆 East Asia EdTech 150

HolonIQ recently launched the East Asia EdTech 150, an annual list of the most promising EdTech startups from the region. East Asia has a healthy diversity of EdTech solutions, illustrating the uptake of technology across the sector and different use cases for technology in learning. East Asia’s appetite for advanced technologies is well recognized, so it’s not surprising to see STEAM, incorporating many K12 math solutions, feature prominently, with the advanced technologies category, including robotics and XR, also firm. The region sees a maturing cohort; however, with just 11% of the list under three years, support for early-stage EdTech is needed.
