From 2011 to 2020, Japan’s local governments increased education expenditure from 16.18 trillion yen to 18.1 trillion yen. This reflects efforts to modernize education, address demographic shifts, and enhance educational outcomes. The rise in spending, particularly in 2020, aligns with reforms promoting STEM education and technology integration, essential for Japan’s evolving educational priorities.

In 2021, China's electric power generation grew substantially, with wind power up by 40.5%, solar power by 25.2%, and nuclear by 11.3%. Total generation rose 9.8%, though hydropower declined by 1.1%.
