HolonIQ China Education (HIQCEDU) The index increased by almost 60% during the 6 month period ending January 2024, against the 7% return on the S&P500 index during the period. The peak observed towards the end of July coincided with New Oriental Education & Technology Group, China’s top 10 education company, releasing its 2023 Q3 results, showing that net income attributable to New Oriental for the fiscal year 2023 was US$177.3 million, compared to a loss of US$1,187.7 million for the prior fiscal year. Towards the end of September, a significant increase in the index value was observed alongside the news of 13 existing Chinese universities being featured in the Top 200 of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

🏥Lykos Therapeutics, a San Jose, California-based mental health care company, raised $100M Series A led by Helena.
🌱 Perfect Day, a Berkeley, California-based company producing animal-free milk protein, raised a $90M Series D from international investors. The company aims to announce a 'major CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) partner launch' in 2024.
💊 Vico Therapeutics, a Leiden, Netherlands-based clinical-stage genetic medicines company developing therapies for severe neurological diseases, raised a $60M Series B from Ackermans & van Haaren. The funds will be used to support its ongoing Phase 1/2a clinical trial evaluating VO659 in patients.
🧬 Moonwalk Biosciences, a California-based genomic medicine company, raised a $57M Series A from Alpha Wave Ventures to advance its epigenetic technology platform and progress the therapeutic pipeline toward the clinic.
📚 Affinity Learning, a NYC-based full-featured learning management platform, raised an undisclosed sum in a seed round led by O'Shaughnessy Ventures. The funds will likely be used to scale and improve its compliance training solution for regulated industries.

💉 Elevance Health (NYSE: ELV), an Indianapolis-based healthcare company, acquired Paragon Healthcare, Inc., a Plano-based company specializing in life-saving and life-giving infusible and injectable therapies.
