This week in the global health industry, Neurocrine Biosciences and Takeda amended their collaboration to advance the development and commercialization of Osavampator, a treatment for psychiatric disorders. GE Healthcare and Nuffield Health entered into a $246.6M agreement to improve diagnostic imaging services at Nuffield Health's hospitals in the UK, addressing key healthcare challenges and promoting sustainable medical practices. Corsair Pharma partnered with InstantGMP to ensure high-quality production for clinical trials, aiming to streamline the manufacturing process by using InstantGMP’s software solutions, enhancing compliance and traceability during production. In capital flows, Lantheus Holdings acquired Evergreen Theragnostics for $250M. The acquisition aims to enhance Lantheus' capabilities in developing and manufacturing radiopharmaceuticals, thereby strengthening its position in the growing radiopharmaceutical market.

💉 Neurocrine Biosciences partners with Takeda. The partnership allows the development and commercialization of Osavampator, a treatment for psychiatric disorders.

🩺 AB2 Bio signed a licensing agreement with Nippon Shinyaku. The deal is worth up to $500M for Tadekinig alfa, a treatment for ultra-rare autoimmune diseases.

🛡️ Takeda is discontinuing Uloric, its gout medication, after declining sales and safety concerns. Uloric faced setbacks due to an FDA black box warning in 2019 over cardiovascular risks.

🏥 GE HealthCare enters into a $246.6M agreement with Nuffield Health. The partnership enhances diagnostic imaging services across Nuffield Health's UK hospitals. 

🤖 Mount Sinai took the initiative to implement the Hyrdus robot. The Hydrus robot assists in navigating complex vascular pathways, particularly in stroke and cardiovascular treatments.

🌐 Mercy enhanced its imaging services with Aidoc's AI-powered aiOS platform. Mercy integrated Aidoc’s AI-powered aiOS platform into its imaging services to support radiologists in analyzing diagnostic scans and prioritizing cases. 

🧬 Biotechnology

🔬 Corsair Pharma partnered with InstantGMP. The partnership aims to leverage InstantGMP's software solutions to improve quality assurance, streamline manufacturing processes, and enhance compliance and traceability during clinical trials.

🧪 miRecule partners with GBI Biomanufacturing to advance the development of antibody-RNA conjugate (ARC) therapies. This collaboration focuses on the research, development, and production of ARC therapies, which combine antibodies' targeting specificity with RNA's therapeutic potential.

🎗️ Merck's Keytruda combination therapy failed to extend survival in a Phase III trial for gastrointestinal cancer. This result marks a setback in Merck’s efforts to expand Keytruda's indications beyond its established use in other cancers, highlighting the challenges of immunotherapy in GI cancers.

💉 King County Invests $16.8M to Strengthen Behavioral Health Workforce. Announced by Executive Dow Constantine, the funding includes $12 million for 37 behavioral health agencies and $4.8 million to expand the SEIU Training Fund’s apprenticeship program, which trains behavioral health technicians and substance use disorder professionals.

🏥 Jamaica and the Philippines have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance healthcare workforce development through collaboration. The agreement includes faculty and trainer exchanges, specialized nurse training, certification programs, and capacity building in biotechnology and healthcare management. As part of the initiative, Jamaican healthcare personnel will have opportunities to train in the Philippines, which is recognized for its strong healthcare education and workforce development

🧑‍⚕️The Albanese Government of Australia is investing $18.4 million in the Aged Care Nursing Clinical Placements Program. The funding will support 8,000 nursing students in developing practical skills in aged care and also aims to strengthen the workforce by providing hands-on training for students in Bachelor of Nursing, Master of Nursing, and Diploma of Nursing programs.

⚕️ Lantheus acquired Evergreen Theragnostics for $250M to expand its capabilities and gain access to Evergreen's diagnostic agent OCTEVY and enhanced manufacturing infrastructure.

🔬 Atalanta Therapeutics raised $75M in Series B funding, intending to use the funds to support Phase 1 clinical trials of its investigational RNAi therapies for KCNT1-related epilepsy and Huntington’s disease.

💊 Quibim secured $50M in funding, intending to use the funds to consolidate its US presence through strategic collaborations with hospitals and pharmaceutical companies.

🩹 Median Technologies secured $47M in funding to commercialize its cancer diagnostic technology.

🦷 VideaHealth secured $40M in Series B funding to scale its AI platform, expand partnerships, and develop new tools for dental service organizations (DSOs) and individual dentists.
