India’s renewable energy sector anticipates an 18% hiring surge in FY25, fueled by government initiatives and corporate investments, with Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu leading solar growth, though workforce challenges necessitate skill development. Similarly, France’s wind energy workforce grew 40% between 2020 and 2023, driven by policies like the 2015 Energy Transition Act and advancements in offshore wind turbines. 

Canada is investing $67M to train 29,300 workers for green jobs, focusing on energy-efficient construction and clean energy to support its 3.87M homes target by 2031. India also advances its Viksit Bharat vision through green skill programs in renewable energy and green hydrogen, fostering a clean energy transition via government-industry collaboration.

🏗️ France's wind energy workforce increased by 40% between 2020 and 2023.

🎐 The 2015 Energy Transition for Green Growth Act and EU Green Deal policies, alongside advancements in larger, more efficient offshore wind turbines, drove the 40% rise in the wind energy workforce from 2020-2023.

👷 In 2023, the total wind energy workforce reached approximately 28,000 jobs. Operation and Maintenance was the largest employment sector within the wind energy workforce in 2023. Engineering and Construction also represented a significant portion of the workforce in 2023.

🚧 While Operation and Maintenance consistently held the largest share, the contribution of other sectors, particularly Engineering and Construction, grew over time.

Upskilling/Reskilling Intiatives

🌱 Canada invests $67M to train 29,300 workers for green jobs. The initiative is focusing on energy-efficient construction and clean energy. Aligned with its plan to build 3.87M homes by 2031, the initiative ensures tradespeople gain specialized skills, securing well-paid jobs and strengthening Canada’s clean economy leadership.

💡 Duke Energy invests $600K in workforce development. Duke Energy Foundation is investing $600,000 in North Carolina’s community colleges to enhance training programs for the energy industry, including a $100K boost for the Forward Fund to support students' essential expenses.

⚛️ US-based EoS partners with Fulbright Philippines and MSU-IIT to develop the Philippines’ nuclear energy workforce. The collaboration funds training programs, fellowships, and academic research, with up to $400K allocated to accelerate nuclear expertise. This initiative aligns with the PH-US "123 Agreement," facilitating nuclear technology transfer.
