🎒 10% of Norway’s Preschool Teachers Were Male in 2022

The share of male preschool teachers in Norway rose from 8.7% in 2014 to 10.2% in 2022, driven by initiatives like the 1997 National Action Plan and The Nordic Gender Effect at Work initiative. The increase aligns with Norway's commitment to achieving gender equality by challenging traditional gender roles and promoting greater diversity in early childhood education. However, further efforts are required to normalize the participation of men in this sector and foster an inclusive environment where gender is no longer a barrier to entry.

⚡ >30% of Turkey’s Electricity From Natural Gas in 2021

In 2021, fossil fuels accounted for 65% of Turkey's electricity generation, with natural gas at 33%, coal at 18%, and lignite at 12%. Renewables contributed over 35%, and hydropower provided 16%. Turkey aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 21% by 2030 and enhance energy efficiency by 20% with a focus on solar and wind investments. The government has also committed to reducing dependency on imported fossil fuels by promoting domestic renewable resources and improving energy infrastructure.

⚕️ >15% Rise in HIV Cases in Ghana From 2008 to 2021

The increase in HIV cases in Ghana, from 300,000 in 2008 to 350,000 in 2021, underscores a significant public health challenge. The government’s National Strategic Plan for HIV 2021–2025 aims to achieve UNAIDS targets by enhancing access to prevention and treatment services, particularly for key populations. Initiatives include community-based testing and rights-based approaches to reduce stigma, supported by funding from the Global Fund to improve healthcare delivery and expand ART access.
