π Funding & Policy Targets Wellbeing in Education
Education policy-makers allocate funding to factors that support student well-being as the landscape of solutions grows to meet this demand across the K12, Higher Education and Workforce Sectors.
Hello π
Education policy-makers allocate funding to factors that support student well-being and equitable access. This week, the UKβs $2B investment in school refurbishments aims to revitalize 50 schools each year and in the US, Chicagoβs βBack to Our Futureβ program focuses on re-engaging students through community support, while Washington State now provides free meals to 70% of public school students.
Recent developments also highlight a growing focus on student well-being in post secondary education. A study released in October by George Mason University revealed a significant increase in mental health concerns among university students while 38% of higher education administrators expect that the widespread adoption of AI will have a negative effect on student mental health. This focus has resulting in the growth of the 'mental health and wellness' EdTech category with solutions such as GuardMe are offering virtual counseling and wellness resources and their partnership with Points for School launched last week plans to alleviate financial burdens to access these resources. Similarly, Kaplan International's recent acquisition of The Student Grief Network earlier this year provides specialized support for grieving students.
