Climate Change is severely impacting staple foods such as corn and even livestock, worsening the impact on the global food industry due to frequent heat waves and droughts. Recent developments in Argentina, Brazil, and South Korea are evident in this global phenomenon. Meanwhile, the UK is urging reconnection with the EU carbon market due to the high cost that could be incurred to maintain a separate system. The UK can become one of the major players and contribute to the development of the EU emission trading system if the potential rejoin occurs. From the LATAM region, an Ecuadorian firm, Grupo Mario Bravo, invested $15M to establish a state-of-the-art PET bottle recycling facility, enhancing the country's sustainable waste management performance.

🌽 Global Food Crisis Looming Due to Climate Change Impact on Major Corn Producers. Major corn producers like Brazil and Argentina have been hit hard by heat waves and droughts in recent years, threatening global food supplies. Biotechnology has helped mitigate the impact, but a food crisis could occur without it.

🥵 Thousands of Livestock Perish in the South Korean Heat Wave. 64,528 livestock animals died due to a severe heat wave in Chungcheongbuk-do Province, South Korea, as the country experienced continuous extreme heat.

🌱 Light-Activated Seed Treatment Boosts Corn Yields. BioLumic, a company that uses light to activate genetic expression in seeds, developed a technology that enhances corn production without genetic modification.

🔄 UK Energy Firms Push to Rejoin EU Carbon Market. The UK energy industry wants to rejoin the European Union's carbon market after a report showed maintaining a separate system could cost billions. Energy companies are urging reconnection with the EU's Emissions Trading System (ETS).

💨 China Sets Carbon Emission Targets for 2026-2030 Five-Year Plan. China's State Council unveiled a plan to incorporate carbon emission targets into the country's economic and social development agenda for the 2026-2030 five-year plan period.

🌳 Carbon America Achieves Milestone in Carbon Capture Technology. Carbon America's cryogenic carbon capture technology, FrostCC™, successfully operated for 1,000 hours at the National Carbon Capture Center, demonstrating its ultraclean carbon capture capabilities.

🌿 Revolutionary Investment Boosts Ecuador's Circular Economy. Grupo Mario Bravo (GMB) announced a $15M investment to establish a transformative plant in Ecuador that will significantly enhance the circular economy and benefit thousands of recyclers.

♻️ Continental Launches Circular Tire Recycling System. Continental, a major tire manufacturer, introduced a circular recycling system where materials from waste tires are extracted and reused to make new tires. The company committed to this initiative by signing a 10-year purchase agreement.

🌱 Swedish Firm Turns Oat Milk Waste into Sustainable Burgers. The Green Dairy, a Swedish company producing plant-based dairy alternatives, developed a way to turn its oat milk residues into ultra-sustainable burgers to feed attendees at the Way Out West music festival.

🍎 Agrovision Raises $100M at Over $1B Valuation. Agrovision, a Los Angeles-based healthy superfruit platform, raised $100M in equity financing at a valuation exceeding $1B.

🧀 Plant-Based Cheese Startup Plonts Launches with $12M Seed Funding. Plonts, a plant-based cheese startup, has debuted its first product, an aged plant-based cheddar, at restaurants in New York City and San Francisco after raising $12M in seed funding.

🌱 Swedish Startup GreenIron Raises $8.7M for Eco-Friendly Metal Production. GreenIron, a Stockholm-based startup focused on developing cost-efficient and CO2-free methods for reducing metal oxides to pure metals, has secured $8.7M in funding.

💰 Singaporean Contaminant Detection Firm Aprisium Raises $7M Series A. Aprisium, a Singaporean company providing contaminant detection solutions, raised $7M in a Series A funding round led by Deep-Tech Venture Partners and Cocoon Capital, with participation from Woh Hup and Solisa Peppercorn.

💎 Lab-grown jewellery brand Aukera raises $3.2M Series A. Aukera, a lab-grown jewelry brand, raised $3.2M in Series A funding led by Fireside Ventures.
