The latest data from the FAO reveals that China has overtaken the US in protein consumption, primarily led by plant-based proteins. However, the world’s second most populated country is expecting to see a significant uptick in meat consumption, explaining why the government is looking to scale up the alternative proteins/meat industry. 3Degrees, a climate solutions provider, facilitated a large carbon removal purchase of over 80,000 metric tons for Microsoft from the Blue Creek Forest Project while last week, the UN outlined its opposition on to companies relying on carbon credits to hit climate targets. The EU's new Right-to-Repair Directive goes into effect, mandating that manufacturers create longer-lasting and more easily repairable items. Apollo Global Management is set to acquire U.S. Silica Holdings, a minerals and logistics company, in a deal valued at $3.8B.

China now consumes more protein per capita than people in the US, according to the latest data from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). But while this is dominated by plant-based sources, meat consumption is set to rise, highlighting why the government is batting for alternative proteins.

♻️ EU Right-to-Repair Rules Take Effect. The EU's new Right-to-Repair Directive enters into force, requiring companies to make products easier to repair and have longer lifespans. This legislation is intended to reduce waste and promote a circular economy.

🚰 Global firms compete for major UAE desalination plant contracts. Major global firms are competing for a contract to build a large reverse osmosis desalination plant on Saadiyat Island in the UAE, which will utilize advanced low-carbon technology to produce a significant amount of fresh water.

🌱Indian Garment Industry Embraces Sustainability. The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) of India highlighted that Indian garment factories follow sustainable manufacturing practices. AEPC is promoting Indian exports and investment at the India Tex Trends Fair in Tokyo.

🌱 Leaf Agriculture Raises $11.3M Series A to Digitize Farming. Leaf, a farm data platform, raised a $11.3M Series A funding to accelerate the digital transformation of agriculture.
