βοΈ AI Framework & Regulation in China's HE
Chinese universities are tightening regulations and implementing frameworks to safeguard academic integrity in the face of generative AI. Trial detection systems are being implemented to identify AI-generated content in undergraduate theses, with revisions mandated for theses exceeding 40% AI content. Additionally, AI technology is being explored to improve fairness within the Gaokao, China's university entrance exam. These efforts are complemented by a new law that revokes degrees obtained through misconduct such as ghostwriting and plagiarism. However, research by the International Center for Student Integrity (ICAI) paints a concerning picture: over 60% of university students admit to cheating during submissions and research at least once during their studies. The opportunities and implications of AI for higher education is one of the five key trends that HolonIQ is tracking - connect with the data and ideas through the recent webinar series.
π Global Student Flows: US Outlook
Indian students in the US will overtake Chinese students by more than 100K by 2030 and represent nearly 500K international students alone. Vietnam, Nigeria, and Bangladesh are the next largest and fastest-growing cohorts for the US. Expect South Korea, Japan, and Saudi Arabia to continue a slow decline through 2030.
