🤖 Advanced Manufacturing #14

This week in the Advanced Manufacturing space, Corning injected $1.5B to expand its Michigan facility, creating 400 advanced manufacturing jobs and strengthening the US solar supply chain. The plant will produce high-purity polysilicon for solar wafers, supporting the growing demand for domestic solar components and contributing to national energy security. Similarly, in New Jersey, Hotpack is investing approximately $100M in a new 70,000-square-foot sustainable packaging plant, creating 200 skilled jobs over five years. Turner Construction launched a new subsidiary, xPL Offsite, in Alabama, aiming to address skilled labor shortages, enhance workforce capabilities, and support a $400M project across 23 US data centers.

Upskilling initiatives are accelerating across North America, with Ohio University, HTC VIVE, and Virtualware launching the Digital Enterprise Collaboratory to prepare for 7,000 jobs from Intel and Anduril. In Puerto Rico, AMSI is training 41 Terumo employees through a $2.28M apprenticeship program. TSMC is also expanding workforce training in Phoenix to support 6,000 new roles by 2030, while Ontario boosts its Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit to spur reinvestment and protect high-quality manufacturing jobs.
