🎓 >5% Rise in Median Pay For Teachers in England

In 2023, the annual median teacher pay in England reached 6.5%, over $ 60K, reflecting efforts to address long-standing concerns over teacher salaries. With inflation reaching 3.5%, the highest since January 2024, the government initially offered a 2.8% pay rise but later increased it to 4% in May. However, schools are only funded to cover up to 3%, forcing them to find the remaining 1% through internal cuts, raising concerns about the impact on school provisions and resources.

🍃 65% of EVs Sold in China Cost Less Than Conventionals

In 2024, 65% of Chinese battery electric vehicles (BEVs) are cheaper than their conventional counterparts, contrasting sharply with Germany (29%) and the United States (17%). This affordability gap is driven by a fierce price war in China, led by Chinese manufacturers slashing prices to boost demand. In contrast, Western markets have seen slower sales and less competitive pricing. In response to the influx of low-cost models, the US government has quadrupled tariffs on Chinese EVs to protect the domestic industry.

🤖 4x Rise in South Korea’s AI Workforce

South Korea's AI-related workforce expanded from 10,577 in 2018 to 39,181 in 2022, with a significant jump in 2020. This upward trajectory has continued, highlighting the rapid integration of AI into the nation's pioneering electronics industry. Despite this growth and Korean workers' active AI use, a notable skills gap persists between the soaring demand for AI talent and the available citizenry. To bridge this, the South Korean government's national AI strategy aims to cultivate a larger, more adept AI workforce.
