California Senate approved a bill to prevent community colleges from replacing instructors with AI. The bill will require that community college courses be taught by qualified human instructors, effective January 2025. A study has found that consuming ultra-processed plant foods increases the risk of cardiovascular disease by 5% and the risk of early death by 13%. Replacing these with fresh, frozen, or minimally processed plant foods can reduce these risks.

🌏 $11.3B Drop in Australia’s International Education Income Post-2019

Australia's international education sector experienced significant growth between 2013 and 2019, with export income increasing by over $20 billion to $37.6 billion. This growth was accompanied by an almost 440K increase in international students. However, disruptions to global travel and student mobility during the COVID-19 pandemic led to a decline in export income to $37.3 billion in 2020 and further to $27.5 billion in 2021. The international education sector is a major export earner in Australia, and while the pandemic caused a temporary decline, it recovered to $36.4 billion in 2023 and is poised for further growth as global mobility continues to recover.

🌱 Milk Alternatives Generated $2.8B in the US Plant-Based Food Market

The US plant-based food market has seen significant growth, with milk alternatives recording the highest revenue at $2.8 billion. This category is the most lucrative among plant-based foods, reflecting consumers' shift towards dairy-free options. Following closely, meat alternatives earned $1.4 billion, indicating a strong demand for vegan and vegetarian protein sources. The rising popularity of plant-based diets is driving innovation and expansion within the market, suggesting continued robust growth in the future.

💼 New Apprentices in the US Doubled Over the Past Decade

The number of new apprentices in the US has doubled from less than 120K in 2010 to 240K in 2022. Once limited to young workers in blue-collar jobs, apprenticeships are now widely embraced by employers seeking skilled employees for diverse roles. This shift attracts candidates with varied education and experience levels. Over the past decade, rising college tuition and student debt have fueled the increasing popularity of apprenticeships and alternative pathways to well-paying jobs.
