🏫 >2M Students Eligible for Free School Meals

The number of pupils eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) in the UK has risen steadily, from 1,142,043 in 2015 to 2,171,916 in 2024. This consistent increase highlights a growing reliance on the program amidst economic challenges, in contrast with situations like the USDA's cancellation of local food purchasing for school children, impacting children who rely on free school food. This disparity underscores the critical role of initiatives like the free breakfast club rollout by the Department for Education.

⚕️ Nearly 80% Rise in Semaglutide Users

GLP-1 drug users increased to over 4M users in 2024 from under 2.5M in 2023. Semaglutide has become the most popular, alongside newer variants such as Tirzepatide, whereas Liraglutide usage declined. Beyond diabetes, Semaglutide is being explored for alternate uses, such as treating alcohol addiction, reflecting its expanding therapeutic potential. However, concerns regarding potential side effects, like vision loss, necessitate vigilant government regulation. The FDA continues to monitor and issue guidance on GLP-1 drug safety.

🤖 >$100B in US Private AI Investments

Emerging economies like India, with $1.16B, are also increasing their AI investments. The White House has announced a $30B private investment in US AI.
