🎓 Registered Online Learners Up by Nearly 100M

The rise of online learning, accelerated by global digitalization and the pandemic, continues to grow steadily, driven by flexibility and convenience that allow students to learn at their own pace from anywhere. Online education is often more affordable than traditional models, breaking down both financial and geographical barriers. However, challenges remain, including reduced face-to-face interaction and concerns over AI reducing critical thinking through overreliance. Despite edtech funding hitting a decade low due to the rise of AI, the sector is continuing to grow. With global demand, the online learning market is poised for sustained long-term growth.

🍃 Southern Africa Saw a 50% Drop in New Solar Installations

Africa’s solar capacity is set to double in the next four years, but regional support is crucial to achieve this goal. In 2024, Southern Africa saw sharp declines in new installations, with a 50% decrease due to annual growth in Southern Africa returning to a normal rate, while West and North Africa saw an increase. Egypt added 700 MW from two major projects, and Ghana emerged as the third-largest market. South Africa remained the top contributor, accounting for nearly 50% of all new installations as well.

🤖 Python Topped US AI Job Skills, Rising 5x in a Decade

Python remains the most sought-after AI skill in US AI-related job postings, with over a 500% rise over the past decade. Other key AI skills have also seen substantial growth. Python continues to drive major advancements in fields such as data science and web development, fueling demand for skilled professionals. With AI job postings rising globally, India saw a 42% increase in AI roles over the past two years. In this rapidly evolving landscape, upskilling in AI is crucial to stay ahead of the competition.
